Established in 2012, the Festival is the brain-child of Associate Professor Graham Wood. Together with the Board of Directors, they have created a Jazz Festival that in it’s first year, ranked 4th in Time Out’s ‘Top 7 Australian jazz festivals’ (August 2013) and featured in the West Australian’s Art’s ‘Best in the West’ for 2013. The purpose of PIJF is to promote jazz music to the wider community, including the international community. The Festival’s aim is to bring inspiring music by many talented musicians from around the world and Australia to Perth in an accessible and vibrant way. It is the vision of the PIJF to attract distinguished jazz performers and become nationally and internationally acclaimed as one of Australia’s iconic jazz festivals within 5 years.
The 2015 Perth International Jazz Festival dates were 29th - 31st May, 2015. With 52 incredible jazz performances across 19 exceptional venues in the heart of the city, this three day festival featured ticketed and community events and celebrated local, national and international artists and was a great success!
