The organisers of the annual New Zealand Festival of Motor Racing at Hampton Downs are eyeing a record lineup of cars as they firm up plans for the Gulf Oil-backed 2015 event which celebrates the career of Formula 1 driver Howden Ganley and the category - Formula 5000 - which helped springboard his career.

Auckland's Clark Proctor (aka The Metalman) heads a strong Kiwi contingent contesting the opening round of the 2014/15 MSC NZ F5000 Tasman Cup Revival motor racing series at Melbourne's Sandown circuit this weekend.

Young gun Tom Tweedie (Chevron B24) dominated the opening round of the 2014/15 MSC Formula 5000 Tasman Revival Series at the annual Historic Sandown meeting in Melbourne over the weekend, qualifying quickest and winning two of the three class races.

Top Australian single-seater racer Tom Tweedie (Chevron B24) qualified quickest and won two of the three F5000 races at the opening round of this season's MSC New Zealand F5000 Tasman Cup Revival Series in Melbourne last month. But that doesn't necessarily mean he will do the same at the second Australian round in Sydney this weekend.

The second Australian round of this season's MSC New Zealand F5000 Tasman Cup Revival Series at Sydney Motorsport Park over the weekend had a real 'game-of-two-halves' feel to it.

The annual Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion meeting at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in California is one of the biggest and most prestigious historic motor racing meetings in the world - and this year a group of Kiwis will be joining F5000 category counterparts from the US, Canada, the UK and Australia at the August 13-16 event.
